Dear Families,
It was so nice to be back in class. I made everyone hug me (whether they wanted to or not)! Many thanks to Mrs. Tronda for assisting us today. We had our last show and tell then heard another Bible Story about Paul's conversion. In Latin, we just worked on our flashcards. In history, we went over our review questions and learned more about the fierce Maori of New Zealand. Mrs. Nicole stopped in and has been to New Zealand and added to our discussion. We went outside and spun "butterflies". Ask your child to tell you about the background on that activity. In Grammar, we spent the whole time diagramming sentences which is what we'll do on Friday as well.
In Literature, we heard the great tall tales that the students created. They were awesome! We had a great time creating and having our own competitions as the men at Mr. Crockett's tavern loved to brag about. We tried talking about diligence and responsibility a bit more. In science we made a game of reviewing the study guide for our test. Pretty much everyone already knows all that is on the guide. See if your student can stump you.
We had one more history activity in which we pretended to trade valuable quarters for triple chocolate cookies. We began to understand how the Maori felt when they found they could only sell their land to the British. We ended the day watching Sarah's copy of Davy Crockett.
There's little to do for next time but we will have a bit of school. Since we have the sub sandwiches coming, I've decided to provide an ice cream dessert to reward the students for their pebbles and how good they were for Mrs. Gant.
Keep checking your e-mails this week.
love,
Mrs. Tkach
