my lonely day and assignments for 2/13/09

Dear Students,

I missed you so much. Whenever one of you is absent there is a hole in class. Yesterday, I experienced 6 holes! My voice is on the mend and I will be back on Friday.

Many thanks to Mrs. Debi for subbing for me and to Mrs. Amy for helping her. Mrs. Debi sent me a note about all that y'all accomplished and told me not to call her until my voice was better. Here are your assignments for Friday.

ASSIGNMENTS:
Grammar: 3rd--review lesson 72
--complete either ex A or ex B

2nd--read lesson 8 of unit 5 on pg. 256
--complete Class Activity (note: you don't write out the sentences, just list the numbers of the sentences in proper order)
--complete ex. A and B under "For You To Do"

Literature:--vocab word (which I will e-mail shortly)
--read first two chapters of The Cabin Faced West

History:--mapwork
--optional color page
--finish reading ch. 25
--produce narration on last half (second graders may choose to answer review questions which I will also e-mail shortly)

Science:--observe the moon one night before Friday and draw what you see in the night sky (note: if it is cloudy every night, this assignment is post-poned)
--tell your parent one thing you remember from the video

Latin:--review for possible test on Friday
--bring flash cards and we'll study in class before testing

Bible:--read chapter 29
--produce a narration or illustrate events (no silliness and use color, please)

History/Literature Assignment
--go to www.history.org/Foundation/journal/winter07/acrostics.cfm
--scan/read/enjoy this article with your parent
--create an acrostic for one of you classmates using the ones in the article as a guide. I will assign each of you the classmate you are to create your acrostic for and e-mail them to you. Just practice and have fun and bring in a rough draft. In class I'll have Valentine art supplies to "pretty them up" and we'll exchange them in class.

Note: I plan to have a Valentine Party the last 45 minutes of class. Bring in valentines already made up for each of your classmates. Could you please bring the following for the party. If you need to trade with someone, contact that person.
