Our Busy Day and assignments for 1/13/08

Dear Families,

Whew! I'm out of breath. We had a VERY busy but fun day. I hope by now you've heard about the jungle we create for literature time. We also made Turkish Delight and heard the history behind this super sweet candy. It was fun to join the 4th and 5th graders for science. The labs we are doing about erosion are excellent for demonstrating the scientific concepts presented. Today we saw ice crack a rock and cause erosion.

My husband and I received a weekend on Hilton Head and I'm off to relax with him after the whirlwind holidays. This is, therefore, short and sweet. Mrs. Terry Beach was our helper and worked hard. Many thanks! Kirsten was still missing so I'll get an update. Keep praying for her!

love,
Mrs. Tkach

P.S. I had a fairly stern talk with the children about silliness and misbehavior. This week has not been good in that realm. I'm attributing it to getting back in the groove from the holidays. However, next week we REALLY need to be on track. I explained that I love doing fun things like making jungles and cooking, etc. However, if these activities are the cause of misbehavior then I'll be forced to cut them out and we'll spend much more time in our seats with only books and papers. Please speak with your child and assure them of my love but that I take my responsibility to teach them and honor the trust you are putting in me to do so very seriously.

Until Tuesday. . .
